I love this conversation so much because, in my own experience, I get into trouble when I allow the other person to dictate what they are going to judge me on--finances, languages spoken, labels on my clothes. Instead, I take the initiative to control my own narrative, and that generally means I talk about the strength of character in my father, which went into creating who I am today, or the lovingkindness of my mother that I can still feel echoing through my best attributes. I'm not lying--my father does have good character and my mother is loving--but I use it to my advantage to make my audience long for what I have. Seriously, who cares what label you are or are not wearing when you have family that loves you waiting for you back at home?

Yes! Lean into it! Claim it and even double down on it! You and your background are enough. You have been loved and you know how to love! Just be you--even if you have to do it afraid. You'll find the peace of authenticity and the freedom of just being you. God's peace and my HUGS to you and Papi.
