Papi, I'm romantic Teflon, and no one believes me.
Thank you - letter writer and Papi both - for putting your frustration and sadness out here for the rest of us. Not having a partner has felt like an unspeakable topic (because, of course, it must be because I am wrong somehow) and it has taken so much space in my life. This post is exactly what I needed and I can't thank you both enough.
Aaand it’s one of the best advice column closures. So warm and generous. We don’t know! We can’t know. We make a practice out of gratitude and a feast of our gifts.
Wow, I literally just got dumped and this feels like a balm. Thank you for writing this in such a caring, thoughtful way.
Can't believe an advice column I randomly clicked on from 2 years ago would be exactly what I needed to hear right now...thank u king (and letter writing queen)
After going through several rounds of fruitless online dating recently, this letter and response cuts me to the quick. Thank you for this piece!
Perfect timing with this as the holidays start and most of us have to be in contact with family members we haven't heard from in a while and justify why we're single. The constant questioning can really make you self-conscious about why all of your other parts of your life aren't enough for your family members, or even for potential partners.
